PONTOS. Amisos. Time of Mithradates VI Eupator, circa 85-65 BC. AE (Orichalcum, 21 mm, 8.65 g, 12 h). Head of Dionysos to right, wearing wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. ΑΜΙΣΟΥ Panther skin and thyrsos on cista mystica; to left and right, monograms. HGC 7, 243. SNG BM Black Sea 1209. A fresh and sharp piece with a lovely brown patina. The reverse a bit weak, otherwise, extremely fine.
