★ An extremely rare drachm from Thasos ★

ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 180 BC. Drachm (Silver, 19 mm, 4.14 g, 12 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing tainia and wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. ΘAΣIΩN Herakles standing front, head to left, holding club in his right hand and with lion's skin draped over his left arm and quiver over his shoulder. HGC 6, 361. Prokopov Class A, 2 (V1/R4). Very rare. Cleaning scratches and with minor doubling on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
