LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 281-278 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.82 g, 9 h). [ՒHPAKΛHIΩN] Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet adorned with Skylla hurling a stone on the bowl; behind her neck, Ε. Rev. Herakles standing facing, holding club in his right hand and bow and arrow in his left; lion skin draped over his left arm; to upper left, owl standing right; to left, ΑΡΙΣ. HGC 1, 990. HN Italy 1385. Van Keuren 87. Harshly cleaned, otherwise, extremely fine.
