★ Pedigreed to 1930 ★
LUCANIA. Thourioi. Circa 350-300 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 6.36 g, 12 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned, on the bowl, with Skylla pointing with her left hand. Rev. ΘOYPIΩN Bull butting right; in field to left, [I]E; above, ΣΩ; in exergue, two confronted dolphins. HN Italy 1820. SNG ANS 1067. Beautifully toned and of lovely style, and with an extensive pedigree. A few minor old scratches, otherwise, good very fine.
