Description

★ Extremely rare ★

ISLAMIC, Mongols. Ilkhanids. Mahmud Ghazan I, AH 694-703 / AD 1295-1304. Dirham (Silver, 21 mm, 2.35 g, 2 h), with cross within heart-shaped Georgian letter D, Tiflis (in Georgia), date illegible, probably AH 696 = AD 1299. In the fourth line of the inner obverse field, cross within heart-shaped Georgian letter D standing for king David VIII (AD 1292-1299) next to the word MePe ('King' in Georgian). Album 2168N. Bennett 346. Extremely rare. Some areas of weakness and with minor marks, otherwise, good very fine.
