Description

★ The fourth known coin of Muhammad ibn ‘Umar ★

ISLAMIC, Persia (Pre-Seljuq). Banijurids. Muhammad ibn 'Umar, AH 268 / AD 881. Dirham (Silver, 18 mm, 3.06 g, 2 h), citing Muhammad ibn 'Umar, the Abbasid caliph al-Mu'tamid billah and 'Rabbi Allah', Banjhir, without date. Album 1433G. Extremely rare, apparently the fourth known issue of Muhammad ibn 'Umar. Some marks, otherwise, good fine.

From the collection of Dr. D. Löer, ex Heritage Europe 54, 22 May 2017, 6372 and Album 16, 17 May 2013, 387.

There appear to be two varieties of this type, one with 'Rabbi Allah' above the reverse field (this coin), the other, residing in Tübingen, with 'Lilah' above the reverse field (SNAT-XIVd:63).
