Description

Magnentius, 350-353. Follis (Bronze, 21 mm, 4.74 g, 5 h), Treveri. D N MAGNENTIVS P F AVG Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Magnentius to right; behind bust, A. Rev. GLORIA ROMANORVM / TRS(crescent) Magnentius on horseback to right, holding shield in his left hand and thrusting spear at barbarian kneeling to left with outstretched arms in front of horse; below horse, broken spear and shield. RIC 271. An attractive example with a lovely reverse. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die, otherwise, good very fine.
