Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.64 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in Spain (Colonia Patricia or Tarraco?), circa 18 BC. CAESARI AVGVSTO Laureate head of Augustus to left. Rev. S•P•Q•R• Round-domed, tetrastyle temple of Mars Ultor set on podium of three steps; within, chariot right, containing aquila and surmounted by four miniature galloping horses. BMC 386. Cohen 281. RIC 117. Beautifully toned and with an excellent portrait. A few banker's marks and with a graffito on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
