Description

PHRYGIA. Hierapolis. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Diassarion (Bronze, 23 mm, 8.57 g, 1 h), time of Septimius Severus, 193-211. Bearded head of Herakles to right, with club over his left shoulder. Rev. ΙЄΡΑΠΟΛЄΙΤΩΝ Hygieia, on the left, standing right, feeding serpent from patera, and Asklepios, on the right, standing front, head to left, leaning right on serpent-entwined staff. BMC 51. RPC IV.2 online 11861. SNG Copenhagen 430. Thick deposits and with some cleaning scratches, otherwise, very fine.
