Description

★ Imitating Chinese cash money ★

LOCAL ISSUES, Northern Tokharistan. Uncertain ruler, circa 6th-8th centuries. Cash (Bronze, 19 mm, 2.49 g), Vakhsh valley. Legend in Bactrian around holed circle. Rev. Blank. Zeno-272177 ( this coin ). Very rare. Light cleaning scratches and with some deposits, otherwise, about very fine.

From the collection of Dr. D. Löer, formed since the 1970s.

This coin imitates Chinese cash money. It was likely issued during the Anxi Protectorate of the Tang Dynasty in the Vakhsh valley in what is today southern Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
