Description

HUNNIC TRIBES, Western Turks. Sri Sahi, circa 650-700. Drachm (Bronze, 23 mm, 2.65 g, 12 h), uncertain mint, possibly in Zabulistan, circa 650. Draped bust to right, wearing crown surmounted by blossom and necklace with two ribbons attached; in upper field to left, small Alchon tamgha; to right, ŠRI SHAHI ('His Perfection, King' in Brahmi). Rev. Stylized Sasanian style altar flanked by two attendants. Göbl 257. Vondrovec, Type 257. Attractive earthen highlights on a dark patina. The reverse struck somewhat off center, otherwise, good very fine.
