HUNNIC TRIBES, Hephthalites. 6th century. Drachm (Silver, 28 mm, 3.47 g, 3 h), imitating a drachm of the Sasanian King Peroz I (457/9-484) from Balkh. Draped bust of Peroz I to right, wearing mural crown with korymbos set on crescent; in outer margin, four pellets and countermark with inscription in Bactrian. Rev. Stylized Sasanian fire altar flanked by two attendants. Göbl 287. Vondrovec Type 287. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die and with light deposits, otherwise, very fine.
