Description

KINGS OF PERSIS. Artaxerxes (Ardaxshir) II, late 1st century BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 14 mm, 2.03 g, 6 h), Istakhr (Persepolis). Draped bust of Artaxerxes II to left, wearing mural crown and diadem; in field to right, monogram above star in crescent. Rev. Artaxerxes II standing left, holding scepter and sacrificing before altar to left. Alram 571. Sunrise 599. Van't Haaff 571/574.2-2. Harshly cleaned and with light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

From the collection of Dr. D. Löer, formed since the 1970s, privately acquired from Frank S. Robinson.
