Description

MYSIA. Pergamon. Circa 166-67 BC. Cistophorus (Silver, 27 mm, 12.54 g, 1 h), circa 76-67. Cista mystica from which snake coils; around, ivy wreath with fruits. Rev. Two snakes coiled around a bow case; between the snake heads, ΜΟΣ above monogram of ΠPY; to left, monogram of ΠΕΡΓ; to right, serpent-entwined staff. Kleiner 45. Pinder 124. SNG Paris 1747-8. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From a European collection, acquired before 2021.
