Description

LOWER DANUBE. Geto-Dacians. Circa 2nd century BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 4.25 g, 12 h), imitating a Republican denarius of C. Poblicius Q.f (80 BC). ROSAIA Helmeted and draped bust of Roma to right. Rev. C C PBIVC IV Hercules strangling the Nemean lion; at his feet, club; in field to left, bow with quiver. Cf. Babelon (Poblicia) 9, Crawford 380/1, RBW 1408 var. (differing control) and Sydenham 768 (for prototype). Minor flan faults, otherwise, very fine.
