Justinian I, 527-565. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.49 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, circa 537-542. D N IVSTINIANVS P P AVG Helmeted, diademed and cuirassed bust of Justinian I facing, holding globus cruciger in his right hand and with a shield decorated with horseman attacking a fallen foe over his left shoulder. Rev. VICTORIA AVGGG Δ / CONOB Angel standing facing, holding long linear cross in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left; in field to right, star. DOC 8c. MIBE 6. SB 139. A well struck, lustrous and very attractive example. Virtually as struck.
