Description

P. Cornelius Lentulus Marcellinus, 100 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.81 g, 12 h), Rome. ROMA Bust of Hercules to right, seen from behind, draped with lion's skin and holding club over his shoulder; to upper left, shield; to left, M. Rev. LE NT •MAR •F Roma standing facing, holding spear in her right hand, crowned by male figure standing left and holding cornucopiae in his left hand; between them, M; all within laurel wreath. Babelon (Cornelia) 26. Crawford 329/1d. RBW 1187 var. (differing control mark). Sydenham 605. Some marks and with light areas of weakness, otherwise, good very fine.

From an American collection of Roman Republican and Imperatorial coins, privately acquired from The Time Machine (with collector's and original dealer's tickets).
