Description

L. Sentius C.f, 101 BC. Denarius (Silver, 21 mm, 3.64 g, 1 h), Rome. AR G•PVB Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet, pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. L•SENTI•C•F Jupiter driving quadriga to right, holding scepter with his right hand and the reins and a thunderbolt with his left; below horses, T. Babelon (Sentia) 1. Crawford 325/1b. RBW 1182 var. (differing control letter). Sydenham 600. Minor deposits and the reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From an American collection of Roman Republican and Imperatorial coins, privately acquired from Freeman & Sear at the New York International Numismatic Convention in 2002 (with collector's ticket).
