Description

Appius Claudius Pulcher, T. Manlius Mancius and Q. Urbinius, 111-110 BC. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 3.94 g, 9 h), Rome. Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet, pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind, letter. Rev. AP•CL•T• MAL •Q•VR Victory driving triga to right, holding reins in both hands. Babelon (Claudia) 2 and (Manlia) 1. Crawford 299/1a. RBW 1141. Sydenham 570. Nicely toned. Some marks, otherwise, very fine.

From an American collection of Roman Republican and Imperatorial coins, privately acquired from J. Kern at the New York International Numismatic Convention in 2002 (with collector's and original dealer's tickets).
