Description

C. Plutius, 121 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.88 g, 6 h), Rome. Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet, pendant earring and pearl necklace; below chin, star (mark of value). Rev. The Dioscuri galloping to right; above, two eight-pointed stars; below, ROMA (in relief within linear frame). Babelon (Plutia) 1. Crawford 278/1. RBW 1101. Sydenham 410. Beautifully toned. Some light scratches, otherwise, very fine.

From an American collection of Roman Republican and Imperatorial coins, acquired from Calicó.
