Description

C. Cato, 123 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.89 g, 3 h), Rome. Head of Roma to right, wearing crested and winged helmet; behind, star (mark of value). Rev. C•CATO / ROMA Victory driving fast biga to right, holding whip in her right hand and reins in her left. Babelon (Porcia) 1. Crawford 274/1. RBW 1096. Sydenham 417. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine.

From an American collection of Roman Republican and Imperatorial coins, ex Martí Hervera/Soler y Llach 1066, 3 May 2011, 2551 (with collector's ticket).
