Description

C. Cassius, 126 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.78 g, 6 h), Rome. Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet, pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind, star (mark of value) above voting urn. Rev. C•CASSI / ROMA Libertas driving galloping quadriga to right, holding pileus in her right hand and vindicta and reins in her left. Babelon (Cassia) 1. Crawford 266/1. RBW 1075. Sydenham 502. Nicely toned. Some light scratches, otherwise, very fine.

From an American collection of Roman Republican and Imperatorial coins, privately acquired from Harlan J. Berk (with collector's and original dealer's tickets).
