C. Servilius Vatia, 127 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.91 g, 8 h), Rome. Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet; behind, lituus; before, star (mark of value). Rev. C•SER VE IL Battle on horseback between two warriors; the warrior on the right is holding a shield inscribed with M in his left hand. Babelon (Marcia) 12. Crawford 293/1. RBW 1069. Sydenham 483. Beautifully toned. Minor flan faults (or traces of overstriking?) on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
