Description

Ti. Minucius C.f. Augurinus, 134 BC. Denarius (Silver, 16 mm, 3.99 g, 6 h), Rome. Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet, pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind head, star (mark of value). Rev. TI MINVCI C F - AVGVRINI Spiral column with grain-ears at base; above ROMA; to left, togate figure standing right, holding uncertain object (loaves?) with both hands and placing his left foot on prow of ship; to right, togate figure standing to left, holding lituus in his right hand. Babelon (Minucia) 9. Crawford 243/1. RBW 1002. Sydenham 494. Beautifully toned. Very fine.
