C. Servilius M.f, 136 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.77 g, 7 h), Rome. ROMA Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet, pendant earring and necklace; behind, wreath above two stars. Rev. C•SERVEILI•M•F The Dioscuri on horseback rearing in opposing directions, heads facing one another, each holding couched spear; above, stars. Babelon (Servilia) 1. Crawford 239/1. RBW 984. Sydenham 525. Beautifully toned. Struck from a slightly worn reverse die, otherwise, good very fine.

From an American collection of Roman Republican and Imperatorial coins, ex Hirsch 284, 26 September 2012, 2609 (with collector's and original auction tickets).
