M. Aurelius Cotta, 139 BC. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.74 g, 12 h), Rome. COTA Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet, pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind, star (mark of value). Rev. M• AVR ELI Hercules in biga of centaurs to right, holding reins in his left hand and club in his right; each centaur holds a palm branch in his left hand. Babelon (Aurelia) 16. Crawford 229/1b. RBW 959. Sydenham 429. Some marks and with minor flan faults, otherwise, very fine.
