★ A beautifully toned tetradrachm of Seleukos I ★

SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Seleukos I Nikator, 312-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 17.04 g, 11 h), Seleukeia on the Tigris I, after circa 300. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ΣEΛEYKOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, M; below throne, ΔΙ. SC 119.9b. Beautifully toned. Light marks, otherwise, good very fine.

From the Hestia Collection, formed over the past five decades, privately acquired from Gorny & Mosch in April 2013 and ex Stack's, 8 January 2013, 245.
