★ Of beautiful late Hellenistic style ★
IONIA. Herakleia ad Latmon. Circa 140-135 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 17.05 g, 9 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with Pegasos springing to right above the foreparts of five galloping horses and a long tendril on the bowl, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. HPAKΛEΩTΩN Club to right; below, owl standing right, head facing, between two monograms; all within oak wreath. Lavva, Silberprägung, Group I, 1-5. SNG Lockett 2824. SNG von Aulock 1976-7. Attractively toned and of beautiful late Hellenistic style. Some minor flatness and with a small flan fault on the obverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
