Description

L. Valerius Flaccus, 108-107 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.94 g, 1 h), Rome. Draped and winged bust of Victory to right; below chin, star (mark of value). Rev. L•VALERI / FLACCI Mars standing front, head to left, holding spear in his right hand and trophy over his left shoulder; before, apex; behind, grain ear. Babelon (Valeria) 11. Crawford 306/1. RBW 1147. Sydenham 565. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.

From an American collection of Roman Republican and Imperatorial coins, privately acquired from Münzkabinett Funk (with collector's and original dealer's tickets).
