Description

BAKTRIA, Greco-Baktrian Kingdom. Eukratides I, circa 170-145 BC. Obol (Silver, 9 mm, 0.40 g, 12 h), Baktra or an uncertain mint in the Paropamisadai or Gandhara, circa 162-145. Diademed and draped bust of Eukratides I to right, wearing crested Macedonian helmet adorned with bull’s horn and ear. Rev. [Β]ΑΣΙΛΕΩ[Σ] / ΕΥΚΡΑΤΙΔΟΥ Youthful Herakles, nude, standing facing, crowning himself with a wreath with his right hand and holding club and lion skin his left. Bopearachchi 3. HGC 12, 140.
