ITALY. Venezia (Venice). Uncertain, late 18th-19th century. Zecchino (Gold, 20 mm, 2.82 g, 12 h), a contemporary imitation, possibly from the Levant. St. Mark standing right, holding book of Gospels in his left hand and presenting banner inscribed DVX to Doge, kneeling to left and raising his head toward the saint. Rev. Christ, nimbate, standing facing in mandorla with twelve stars, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left. Original suspension loop attached. Good very fine.
