★ A beautifully toned bracteate of Udalschalk von Eschenlohe ★

GERMANY. Augsburg (Bistum). Udalschalk von Eschenlohe, 1184-1202. Bracteate (Silver, 25 mm, 0.80 g). Mitred bust of Udaschalk holding the chalice of St. Ulrich in his right hand and the cross of St. Ulrich in his left, surrounded by a ring of crescents and pellets. Rev. Incuse of obverse. Berger 2628. Steinh. 60. Slg. Bonh. 1901. Beautifully toned. Extremely fine.

From the collection of Dr. Max Blaschegg (1930-2021, with collector’s ticket), privately acquired from Münzen & Medaillen AG on 19 June 1985.
