The blinding of the farmer from Melchi: a bearded male figure with a sword on his hip gouges the eyes of an old farmer bound to a column; in background, plow; above, coat of arms in clouds; below, 1307. Rev. PRAEMIUM / STU:JUV: / SUBSYLVANI AE / SUBERI: / ORIS. within laurel garland. Meier 344. SM 976. Beautifully toned and unusually well preserved. Light adjustment marks as made, otherwise, good extremely fine.
