ISLAMIC, Ayyubids. Mayyafariqin & Jabal Sinjar. al-Awhad Najm al-Din Ayyub, AH 596-607 / AD 1200-1210. Dirham (Bronze, 28 mm, 10.50 g, 2 h), Mayyafariqin, AH 591 = AD 1194/5. Draped facing bust, wearing headdress and mantle, held together by clasp, from which pendant hangs down; in field to left and right, as well as in outer margin, legend in Kufic. Rev. Legend in Kufic in five lines; around, legend in Kufic. Balog, Ayyubids 340. Well struck and unusually well preserved. About extremely fine.
