Description

Valerian I, 253-260. Antoninianus (Billon, 21 mm, 4.50 g, 6 h), Samosata, 260. IMP C P LIC VALERIANVS P F AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Valerian I to right. Rev. PIETAS AVGG Valerian, on the left, holding eagle-tipped scepter in his left hand, and Gallienus, on the right, holding short scepter in his left hand, standing facing each other and sacrificing over tripod; in field above, pellet within wreath. Cohen 152. MIR 1699l. RIC 285 ('Antioch'). The reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, extremely fine.
