Severus Alexander, 222-235. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 2.29 g, 7 h), Rome, 229. IMP SEV ALEXAND AVG Laureate head of Severus Alexander to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. P M TR P VIII COS III P P Mars standing front, head to right, holding spear in his right hand and placing his left on shield set on the ground. BMC -. Cohen 364 var. (without drapery). RIC 91 var. (without drapery). A rare bust variety. Tiny scratches on the obverse and minor spots of corrosion on the reverse, otherwise, virtually as struck.
