Description

P. Clodius M.f. Turrinus, 42 BC. Denarius (Subaeratus, 19 mm, 2.67 g, 8 h), a contemporary plated imitation, irregular mint. Laureate head of Apollo to right; behind, lyre. Rev. P•CLODIVS M•F• Diana standing front, head to right, with bow and quiver over shoulder, holding lighted torch in each hand. Cf. Babelon (Clodia) 15, Crawford 494/23, RBW 1727 and Sydenham 1117 (for prototype). Breaks in plating and with some scratches and nicks, otherwise, very fine.
