Description

KINGS OF PERSIS. Darios (Darev) I, late 2nd century BC. Drachm (Silver, 18 mm, 4.00 g, 3 h), Istakhr (Persepolis). Bearded head of Darios I to right, wearing diadem and kausia-like kyrbasia topped by a crescent. Rev. Fire-altar of Ahura-Mazda; above, half-figure of Ahura-Mazda; to left, King standing right, his hands raised in adoration; to right, eagle standing left on rectangle pillar. Alram 557. Klose & Müseler 3/10. Sunrise 582. Van't Haaff 557. Attractively toned. Light deposits, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
