KINGS OF ARMENIA. Tigranes II ‘the Great’, 95-56 BC. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 18 mm, 3.76 g, 1 h), Artaxata, circa 96-80. Draped bust of Tigranes II to right, wearing tiara decorated with a star and tied with a diadem. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩ[Σ] / MEΓAΛOY - [TIΓPANOY] Tigranes, wearing tiara, driving fast biga to left, holding whip or branch in his right hand and reins in his left. Kovacs 61. Extremely rare. Struck on an unusually small and light flan. Patina stripped, otherwise, good fine.
