KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.28 g, 12 h), Abydos, struck under Antigonos I Monophthalmos, 306/5-301. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram; below throne, male head to left, wearing Phrygian cap. Price 1577. Beautifully toned. Struck slightly off center and with minor flan faults on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
