Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 17.09 g, 6 h), Amphipolis, struck under Kassander as regent, circa 320-315. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle with closed wings in right; to left, Λ above boukranion; below throne, E. Price 432. Slightly brushed, otherwise, nearly very fine.
