Description

SOUTHERN GAUL. Allobroges. Circa 61-40 BC. Quinarius (Silver, 14 mm, 2.00 g, 5 h), Durnacos. [DVRN]ACOS Head of Athena to right, wearing winged helmet. Rev. AVSC[RO] Warrior on horseback to right, holding spear. DT 3161. LT 5762. Beautifully toned and attractive. Struck somewhat off center, otherwise, very fine.

From the Joachim Schlüter Collection of Celtic coins, ex Leu Web Auction 11, 22-23 February 2020, 9 and from an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s, privately acquired from Numismatica Arethusa (with original dealer's ticket).
