Description

CELTIC, Central Europe. Helvetii. Mid 1st century BC. Quinarius (Silver, 12 mm, 1.61 g), 'Büschelquinar'. Palmette made from eight curved leaves connected by a central line ornamented with pellets; above, crescent. Rev. Celticized horse prancing to left; above, serpent (?); below, remains of a monogram. Nick p. 86, H3. SLM 951-954. Nicely toned. Struck from worn dies , otherwise, very fine.

From the Helvetii Collection, formed in the 1970s and 1980s.
