★ An attractively toned didrachm from Kos ★
ISLANDS OFF CARIA, Kos. Circa 345-340/30 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 21 mm, 6.78 g, 1 h), Biton, magistrate. Bearded head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BITΩΝ / KΩION Veiled head of Demeter to left. BMC 23-4. HGC 6, 1306. Pixodarus p. 235, 29 (A3/P18). A well centered and very attractively toned piece. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die and with minor spots of corrosion on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
