★ A very rare obol from the Arkadian League ★

ARKADIA, Arkadian League. Circa 480-470 BC. Obol (Silver, 10 mm, 1.00 g, 9 h), Kleitor mint. Zeus Lykaios seated left, holding eagle alighting to left in his right hand and long scepter in his left. Rev. A- R Head of Kallisto to left, wearing tainia and necklace and with her hair tied in queue; all within incuse square. BCD Peloponnesos -, cf. 1394 (hemidrachm). Williams, Arcadians, 23-28 (unlisted dies). Very rare. Beautifully toned and of splendid late Archaic style. Nearly extremely fine.
