KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.26 g, 4 h), Sardes, struck under Menander or Kleitos, circa 322-319/8. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔP Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in field to left, torch; below throne, A. Price 2637. Well centered and attractive. Light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
