KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16.5 mm, 4.34 g, 8 h), Lampsakos, struck under Antigonos I Monophthalmos, circa 310-301. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔP[OY] Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, forepart of Pegasos flying left; below throne, Artemis Phosphoros hurrying left. Price 1387. Fresh and lustrous. The reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, virtually as struck.
