THRACE. Maroneia. Circa 189/8-49/5 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 15.88 g, 1 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing tainia and wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. ΔIONYΣOY - ΣΩTHPOΣ / MAPΩNITΩN Dionysos standing front, head to left, holding grapes in his right hand and narthex stalks in his left; in inner left field, monogram; in inner right field, Θ. HGC 3.2, 1556. Schönert-Geiss 1099-1108. SNG Copenhagen 637. Nicely toned and unusually well preserved. About extremely fine.
