Description

LOWER DANUBE. Imitations of Thasos. Late 2nd-1st century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.83 g, 1 h). Celticized head of Dionysos to right, wearing wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. [H]ΡAKΛEOΥΣ - ΣΩTHΙOΣ / ΘΛΣIΩΚΙ Herakles standing front, head to left, holding club in his right hand and with lion skin draped over his left arm; to inner left, M. Dembski 1511. Flesche -. Lanz -. Lukanc pl. 95, 1044. OTA Class 2. Minor flan faults and with a test cut on the edge, otherwise, very fine.
