Description

Alexius I Comnenus, 1081-1118. Tetarteron (Bronze, 18 mm, 3.68 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, 1092-1118. Christ enthroned facing, wearing nimbus crown, pallium and colobium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of gospels in his left; in fields to upper left and right, IC - XC. Rev. AΛЄΖΙⲰ ΔЄCΠΟΤ TⲰ Η KM Alexius I standing facing, wearing crown, divitision jewelled chlamys, holding labarum in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left. SB 1923. Slightly rough, otherwise, very fine.
